Sarah for my Birthday!

My wife purchased two tickets to the Sarah Mclachlan concert tonight at Chateau St. Michelle as an early birthday present for me (THANKS BABE!!). Its no hidden secret that I love Sarah and her music. She performed some of my favorite songs tonight including a great oldie from her Solace album "The Path of Thorns". Towards the end of the night I wanted to run up in front of the stage with all the other middle aged ladies dancing as if we were at Woodstock. I think David (& Lauren) said it best when he said, "there's alot of estrogen tonight".

As part of the concert Sarah had two of her friends with her, Melissa McClelland and Butterfly Boucher. Both were excellent and I'm already a fan of both singers.

She ended the night singing my wife's favorite song, "Ice Cream" with the entire crowd singing along. A perfect song to end a perfect evening. One of the best birthday gifts ever.

Charter Fishing in Westport

For my father in law's 61st birthday he requested to be taken on a fishing adventure in the Pacific Ocean. He was looking to wrangle giant halibut while the boat fought through 10ft swells.

None of these things happened.

Instead we had a calm sunny day catching little 2 to 3 feet Rockfish, Sea Bass and Ling Cod. During the excursion, it was reaffirmed to me that I don't get seasick. All those adolescent years when my dad strongly "encouraged" my brother and I to read in the car has paid off! Even if we had to pull over from time to time during the near triple digit summer days to release the hotdogs eaten at church from the grips of our stomach. "Thanks Dad!". But I digress....All in all it was a great trip and a wonderful bonding time. We brought home 20 fillet's of fish and just as many carcasses to make Korean fish soup.

Some notes on the trip. I booked the trip through Westport Charters. They're a very friendly group of people during the booking process. The boat we were on was called Swifty. The captain and deckhands made the trip very easy especially for a newbie like myself.

New Milestones

A couple of exciting events in our household. The first event still seems surreal playing the part of a proud father watching his son's first graduation. It didn't seem that long ago when my parents came to my school to watch me sing or play the...trombone. Now I sit in the audience with a camcorder and a camera with a high powered lens capturing this momentous occasion. The other is my second son's Baek-il (100 Day Celebration). It is amazing watching kids grow up before your eyes. Some pictures that captured these milestones.

Charter Fishing in Maui

After a great but tiring workout at 24 hour fitness yesterday I was enjoying a beer with some friends and the topic of ocean fishing came up. So naturally having experienced this in my seasoned life, I began to share my story of how I managed to catch an Ahi (correction its an Ono) that was about 4 feet in length which fed an army of wedding guests at my brother's fantastic wedding. Not 2 minutes into the story I sense doubt, disbelief and skepticism as to the authenticity of my story. So friends (CHRISTINE!) here are authentic (non-edited) photos of the event. WARNING: If you are sensitive to animal, well in this case aquatic vertebrate cruelty, please do not view the pictures. I have some videos of this as well and will post it if there are any lingering doubt.

Singing In The Rain

Jonah is getting ready for daycare and in preparation of Washington's mandate requiring all children to play outside for 45 minutes each day rain or shine. Since we live in Seattle and it does rain every now and then thought it would be a good idea if we got him a raincoat and boots. He loved splashing in the puddle. Here's proof:

Big Brother Jonah

Jonah is now a big brother. He can no longer bask in the glory of an "only child" any longer. He has the share his toys, clothes and most all spotlight. He's had his moments of "acting out" and the occasional raising of hands to hit this new intruder in his kingdom. I have a feeling its going to take awhile before he warms up to the concept of "big". Micah

Our second son was born this past week. I can already tell he's going to have a type A personality. He popped out of the womb in under six minutes and knows exactly what he wants and screams when something is not right. He looks just like his older brother but my wife and I agree their personality will be very different. Here are some pictures of Micah at the hospital and first day home.
